Hospitalized Zamfara District Head is Dead After Being Shot by Bandits
Kogo Hamza, the district head of Yankuzo in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State who was shot by bandits, passed away in the hospital while undergoing treatment. Following multiple gunshot wounds from bandits along Tsafe Yankuzo Road, Hamza was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Gusau, where he passed away on Saturday evening. Ado Aliero, the feared bandits’ leader, was born and raised in ankuzo and is now a wanted man by the military.
Audu Mohammed, a local, explained how the district head was ambushed by bandits on Saturday while he was returning to his domain following a meeting with the Emir of Tsafe along the Tsafe Yankuzo route.
Mohammed said, “The bandits had wanted to abduct him but he refused to stop.
“They chased him and opened fire at his car where he sustained six gunshot injuries.”
“He was rushed to Tsafe General hospital and later transfered to the Federal Medical Centre Gusau where he finally died on Saturday night.”
The state police command’s spokeswoman, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached by phone, therefore attempts to gain remarks from him were unsuccessful.
