Ex Nigeria U20 Footballer, Abubakar Lawal Dies in Ugandan Bike Accident


 Vipers SC midfielder tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Monday along Entebbe Road in Uganda.

Lawal, who joined Vipers SC in 2022, scored Vipers’ ever first group stage goal in the CAF Champions League 1-1 draw with Raja Casablanca.

There has been an outpour of tributes from Nigerian and Ugandan clubs following the death of former Wikki Tourists, Nasarawa United player and former junior international Abubakar Lawal, who lost his life in a devastating accident in Uganda on Monday.

According to reports in Uganda, Lawal, 29, who played for Vipers FC of Uganda, was said to have met his untimely death in a motorcycle accident at Entebbe Road in Kampala, the country’s capital.

Vipers SC, in a statement, confirmed the death of the player.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and untimely passing of our beloved player, Abubakar Lawal, who left us this morning (Monday). His body has been transferred to a medical facility for postmortem examination. Funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lawal’s family, club fans, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.”
