Uninformed And Misplaced Outbursts And A Lack Of Understanding
Uninformed and Misplaced Outbursts and a Lack of Understanding
Senator Ned Nwoko & Gov Sheriff Oborevwori
It is quite refreshing that, for once, the usual purveyors of denial and falsehoods have admitted a truth that Senator Ned Nwoko indeed rejected the government-issued vehicles, a salary. However, beyond their newfound honesty, it is unfortunate that the lame argument still lacks depth and is riddled with cheap insults and misconceptions.
First, let’s clarify a fundamental issue: the provision of vehicles to National Assembly members is neither a “gift” nor an act of personal largesse, as the writer ignorantly asserts. It is a longstanding governmental precedent spanning multiple administrations, facilitating legislators in their responsibilities across their constituencies. While lawmakers are allocated official vehicles within the National Assembly, additional support at the state level strengthens legislative-executive relations, ensuring representatives can better serve their people. To misunderstand and misrepresent this process only exposes the writer’s limited grasp of governance and his penchant for rabble-rousing.
More importantly, the attempt to paint Senator Nwoko’s rejection of the vehicles as a publicity stunt is laughable. When false narratives began circulating that he had accepted them, it became necessary to set the record straight. The Senator, a self-made individual, found the expenditure on such vehicles unnecessary, considering the pressing needs of the people. His decision was one of principle and empathy, reflecting his commitment to responsible governance and prudent financial management.
There is a clear difference between cheap insults and the demand for transparency and accountability in governance. Senator Ned Nwoko has been elected to speak, and speak he must. It is unfortunate that, once again, the writer’s lack of awareness regarding the accountability required in a democracy is glaring. Instead of resorting to baseless attacks, it would serve him well to understand that public office demands transparency, responsibility, and truth—values that the Senator upholds without compromise.
Finally, let it be clear: the writer’s political relevance will end in 2027, and without a portfolio, his theatrics will hold no weight. His persistent attempts to distort facts and undermine precedents he neither understands nor respects will not change reality.
Senator Ned has made deep sacrifices, some that he can never comprehend, so why make commentary that exposes his shallow knowledge.
Senator Ned will continue to demand equitable transparent allocation of huge States resources, especially to the neglected communities he represents till pipe borne water, electricity step down, food security, and the coastal roads are all achieved.
