U20 World Cup: Japan Defeat Nigeria’s Falconets 2-1
Nigeria’s Falconets early this morning crashed out of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in the Round of 16 after they fell 2-1 to Japan. Olushola Shobowale scored a stoppage time consolation goal for the Falconets. Japan went on front after 33 minutes, before they doubled their advantage on 65 minutes

Miyu Matsunaga opened the scoring for Japan in the 33rd minute, assisted by Ujihara Rihoma.
Meanwhile, Japan extended their lead in the second half when Maya Hijikata scored in the 66th minute from a cross inside the box.
Nigeria pulled one back with Olushola Shobowale’s goal in the 91st minute.
Despite a late push from Nigeria, Japan’s solid defense secured their place in the quarterfinals.
So far, the tournament had mostly seen dry weather in Bogota but heavy rain began in the second half of the match against Japan.
The downpour slightly eased towards the end but did not significantly disrupt the flow of the game, with both teams continuing their efforts to advance to the quarterfinals.
