WORLD CLEAN AIR DAY: Senator Nwoko Urges Nigerians to Stay Clean
Prince (Dr) Ned Munir Nwoko, the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment has urged Nigerians to avoid activities that cause environmental pollution, degradation and deforestation. He enjoined them to ensure that they live an eco-friendly sustainable life style.
Senator Nwoko who represents Delta North Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber, gave the advice as the world marks the United Nations international Day of Clean Air. The influential lawmaker, who is a renowned philanthropist, noted that clean air is important to balanced environment and good health.
Senator Nwoko has always advocated for the establishment of waste recycling plants across all senatorial districts nationwide to promote clean environment and also create job opportunities.
The United Nations General Assembly designated 7 September as the day to raise awareness and drive action on combating air pollution. That’s the goal of the International Day of Clean Air for blue skies, which was inaugurated in 2020.
Air pollution is the biggest external cause of ill-health and premature deaths.
Senator Nwoko also disclosed that the Senate is resolute in addressing environmental degredation.
