FCT To Fight Insecurity In Abuja With Hungarian Drones
The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun the process to establish a partnership with Hungary in the areas of security and agricultural development. To this end, Mr Wike said the partnership would pave way for the procurement of more drones from Hungary to curb insecurity in the 8,000 square kilometer FCT.
This minister revealed this during his meeting with the Consul-General of the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria, Endre Peter Deri at his office in Area 11, Abuja..
Mr Wike highlighted the administration’s commitment to addressing security challenges, stressing that acquiring drones to enhance security measures will go a long way in maintaining peace in the nation’s capital.
The minister emphasised the need to determine the most suitable type of drones for the FCT and ensure their efficiency and reliability when deployed.
He said: “Security has been an issue, but by the grace of God, we are able to tackle the issue. We want to have drones, and discussions will be held with your people to determine the type of drones we need.”
Apart from security, the Minister emphasised the importance of agriculture and expressed readiness to collaborate with Hungary to transform the sector.
He expressed readiness to offer land for agricultural projects, highlighting the potential for a mutually beneficial partnership with Hungary.
Earlier in his remarks, the Consul-General of the Embassy of Hungary in Nigeria, Endre Peter Deri praised the Minister for his remarkable achievements within a short time.
Mr Deri conveyed Hungary’s willingness to sell drones to the FCTA to address security concerns and presented a proposal for collaboration.
The Consul-General mentioned the University of Agriculture’s readiness to cooperate with the FCT in ensuring food security through sustainable production practices.
