Fani-Kayode moves to defect from PDP to ruling APC
Fani-Kayode plots to dump PDP for ruling APC
Controversial former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode appears set to return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from where he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) six years ago.
A reliable source told Image that the Ogun State-born politician met with the chairman, APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello at a Guest House in Abuja on Sunday night.
His imminent defection is seen as part of political maneuvers ahead of the 2023 presidential election. Our source hinted that between three and four PDP governors are negotiating to defect to the APC in a grand move.
The source hinted that Chief Femi Fani-Kayode held deep talks with Governors Buni; and Bello during the Sunday nocturnal meeting.
It was further hinted by our source that Fani-Kayode offered to ‘midwife’ the defection of the PDP governors by preparing the way for them.
It was gathered by Image that the top hierarchy of the ruling party was taking the sudden romance from the former minister with a pinch of salt considering his antecedents, particularly previous utterances against the APC and the President Muhammadu Buhari government. However, one APC top shot who spoke with Image on Monday said saw his moves as a good omen for the party.
As at Monday night, the names of the four PDP governors plotting to defect to the APC could not be ascertained by our source. However, the reason for their planned move is said to be related to permutations in the run down to the 2023 presidential contest.
